The Distillation of Whisky; Notes and Observations on its Historical and Practical Aspects, 1927-1931; James Eadie Ltd

€ 94,95 (including VAT)

This is another extraordinary publication from independent bottler James Eadie Ltd, following the huge success of the landmark 2022 publication of 'The Distilleries of Great Britain & Ireland' which provided an extensive pictorial guide of distilleries in the 1920s.

A guide to historic distillation
For this companion publication Leon Kuebler conducted extensive further research at the British Library to produce another remarkable tome that provides the whisky community with an extensive guide to whisky distillation in the inter-war period. 'The Distillation of Whisky, 1927-1931' is one of the few available practical first-hand resources dating from Scotch whisky’s early history and illuminates lost whisky-making techniques from the interwar years. These methods of production will be of great interest to whisky fans fascinated by the differences between modern and 'old school' whisky, but crucially also for modern distilleries looking for inspiration from the past.

Innovative Distilleries
To bring these lost whiskies to life, James Eadie Ltd has collaborated with six of Scotland’s most innovative whisky distilleries to produce spirits inspired by the book, in 'Project 1927'. These whiskies – from Ardnamurchan, Dornoch, Holyrood, InchDairnie, Lochlea and ‘An Unnamed Farm Distillery in the Heart of the Kingdom of Fife’ – will be distilled between Autumn 2023 and Spring 2024, and will be released over the course of the next decade.

The first release of spirits inspired by the book will be in early Summer 2024 and will be a complete set of 10cls from the six distilleries, plus a blended at birth. This will be sold exclusively by Royal Mile Whiskies, and purchasers of the book will have the first opportunity to buy these spirits and future whisky releases ahead of the general public.
